stand-alone receiver

I would like to have a stand-alone receiver based on the serit tuner for low SR signals. I have used the TS output connector to feed the signal to an existing receiver for decoding video and audio, works fine. Now i am looking for a way to control the serit tuner withhout PC. Would it be possible to use an Arduino-like processor with LCD display to set the frequency, SR etc? What would be the best approach?
Is the datasheet for the Serit tuner free available? (couldn't find yet)

I would love that as well. a nice big box with screen and twiddly knobs for tuning freq, sr,mode, fec and switches to flick

something along the lines of this

What sat box did you use, any chance for some pictures of your mod?
I assume you have to set the Msym on the box to make it work
Is the transport stream buffered to the box?
I think JP had to sign a non disclosure agreement (or similar) therefore the inner workings are his trade secrets

I think It will be very difficult to do it with an arduino : the demodulator chip has 1000 registers to set, some things must be set dynamically... it is not just sending twelve parameters via I2C.
Actually Minitioune source code has more than 70 000 lines.

Is the datasheet for the Serit tuner free available

it is under NDA.

I am trying to use a DreamBox like , taking control of the chip. that could offer another stand alone solution.

Opens up many possibilities

How about Lounge room DATV, the XYL will never know ;)

Recently I am using the Octagon SF8008 receiver with OpenATV 6.2 firmware loaded. This works reasonable with SR down to 250KS.
This is a solution for people who want a stand-alone receiver. However the mini tutioune with Serit NIM is better and more "user friendly" for DATV use.

Since there is no Linux support for multitoune it would be impossible.....if there were linux support, so we would be able to use SBCs
like the new Odroid N2 to build powerful (mobile?) Minitouner standalones with analyzer and audio-video hardware
decoding function.....as you here can see ,it would be also possible to add, with some components nim tuner to serial input,
so no need of Ft-Usb chip ;)
