Goodday to all
I bought my kit a few years ago from BATC.(Version V1.0 with the Sharp tuner)
So now it's the time to get one with it
I wonder what the purpose is of the switching PSU module PSU1? ( MP1584)
Can this PSU not simply be omitted and supply only with 12 V directly ( and bypass the PSU1) to the 5V regulator ( U4) or am i missing something ?
I know that de 5V regulator is a low drop version , or is it maybe that normal regulators like a 7805 are to noisy ?

Hello,

If I remember well, the first regulator (5v) must receive 6v max
so the little chineese pcb (PSU1) allows us to give at the input anything between 8v and 18v and has its output set to 5.5v

yes a 7805 is much noisy.

Just to let you know that's everything works fine .
I haved to replace the 5V fixed LDO regulator with another type because the stock was zero.
For your interest ( and for other candidate builders) it is a BA05CCOT LDO 1% 1A and 25 Vin regulator from ROHM semiconductors
